Brokenhearted Hope is a beautiful, God-breathed testimony to the power of overcoming loss through hope and faith. Heather tells her own story while also compiling the stories of many other women (and men) who have experienced the painful tragedy of miscarriage and/or infant loss. With its powerful prayers, reflections, journaling prompts, and raw-but-beautiful truths, this book is going to be an anthem of hope for many years to come.

My loss was many years ago, and back then there really weren't books like this. I'm so thankful that now there are, and I pray that the book will be an encouragement to so many who walk this painful road.

Brokenhearted Hope dives deep into the personal stories of both mothers and fathers who have experienced loss. Writing from her own experience, Heather takes each chapter and applies a reflection, action, and discussion segment in order to guide the reader in their relationship with Christ as they allow God to heal their broken hearts and seek the hope and peace that only He can provide. The layout of the book is well planned with impactful scripture content throughout. The presence of the Lord can clearly be felt. The book was inspirational and caused me to stop and evaluate my own life. As I read the redemptive stories about fear, faith, and trusting God, it resonated with me in many ways. I got chills and some of the stories brought me to tears! It’s a great read and I highly recommended for anyone who has been affected by infant loss of any type.

When anticipation turns into unexpected grief, Brokenhearted Hope offers strength, encouragement, and comfort through the testimonies of those who have experienced the unspeakable pain of miscarriage. You'll find yourself in intimate fellowship with an often silenced community of those who have experienced this tragedy that's more common than you can imagine. Through faith, there is healing and hope for the future.

"When you experience miscarriage you are inducted into a club you never wanted to join, but a community nonetheless. As you share, sisters come forward to share their stories too. You start to learn how many members are in this club, and it’s startling." — Beth's Story | Chapter 1

The Dandelion Story

If you’ve ever noticed, dandelions can grow practically anywhere there’s a pinch of soil or even a crack in the sidewalk — something beautiful growing out of a barren and broken place. Dandelions are so resilient they can be found on every continent. Dandelion literally means “lion’s tooth.” Think about Daniel and the lion’s den: In Daniel 6:23 it says, “When Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.” Although Daniel faced the gnashing teeth of lions, his unwavering faith and trust in the Lord became a testament to an entire nation to the power of the living God.

Dandelions symbolize:

  • Healing from emotional or physical pain

  • Emotional intelligence and spiritual growth

  • Warmth and power of the rising sun

  • Rising above life’s challenges

ENCOURAGING STORIES OF FAITHFULNESS
HEALING AND HOPE IN THE MIDST OF MISCARRIAGE
ABOUT
CONTACT

Heather Shipley is a university instructor and former marketing professional with a passion for writing, speaking, and sharing hope in God's word in order to encourage women to find freedom and live the abundant life God intended.

She is the founder of Craving God Ministries and on October 15, 2015 (Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day), Heather experienced miscarriage for the first time. She found that the most helpful resource, besides God's word, was hearing from others who had been in this situation before. Stories of faithfulness, healing and hope in the midst of miscarriage.

So she asked friends, family and even social-media-strangers, if they'd share their stories of hope and faith after heartbreak. Her family's story is still unfolding and somewhat uncertain, but the one certain thing is this: God is faithful and good — He has a plan and purpose for the pain, and his timing is always perfect.
